Adventure in forest and moor

A very special herb and mushroom hike on 04.08.2023

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

This time I was booked by vacation guests from the Netherlands for an exclusive hike . The small family with the two children was very, very nice and we got along great.

Death Cap

We roamed the forest, the fields and the nearby moor.
In addition to many, many mushrooms, which is very unusual for this time of year, there were also exciting plants to marvel at.

I have never seen so many green button mushrooms in one spot, the whole path was lined with them, beautiful to look at but also absolutely deadly.

Also “Witches” and Woodear were already to be found.

In a shady spot in the forest was even still woodruff to find, also very unusual.

It was also great fun to make plant tattoos from the juice of the celandine, and the plantane was allowed to show the children what it can do in a careless encounter with the stinging nettle.

The parents spoke perfect German and the kids were totally cute and eager to explore.

It was really very exciting, at a badger hole we found probably the skull of a fox, I didn’t even know that there are badgers in our country.

In the forest we found a ship built from branches.

A nice catch-up date during the week

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Since the herb hike at the weekend had to be cancelled due to heavy rain, we made up for it today (Tuesday, 25.07.2023) in the best weather.

Also this time we got along very well and will stay in contact ♥

A cute dog was also on board and he found the short rest at the lake just as beneficial as we did, even if we didn’t feel like throwing his “logs”.

We have found and discussed e.g.

  • Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica)
  • Benweed (Senecio jacobaea)
  • Wild Lupine (Lupinus angustifolius)
  • Maidenstears (Silene vulgaris)
  • Cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris)
  • Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus)
  • Common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)
  • Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon (Tragopogon pratensis)
  • Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
  • Water mint (Mentha aquatica)
  • St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum)
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
  • Wild carrot (Daucus carota)
  • Ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
  • Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)
  • Broadleaf plantain (Plantago major)
  • and much more

Be there next time, it’s always very exciting and entertaining.

At the end, of course, everyone got my plant and recipe folder for home again.

I would like to thank all participants and I am already looking forward to the next herb walks at the 29 and 30 July 2023 ♥

Herb hike by the lake

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Oh, that was beautiful again today ♥

Yesterday evening I was spontaneously booked by very dear people and this morning at 10 o’clock we started.

Now it is really nice and warm in the early morning, even though it was very windy today.

It was a really nice herb hike in a small circle with really great, lovely people. ♥

Slowly, summer herbs such as St. John’s wort and the rare “Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon” are coming into flower, but yarrow and tansy still need a little time – and above all water! It is much too dry here.

We have found and discussed e.g.

  • Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata)
  • Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica)
  • Cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris)
  • Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus)
  • Common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)
  • Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon (Tragopogon pratensis)
  • Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
  • Water mint (Mentha aquatica)
  • St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum)
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
  • Wild carrot (Daucus carota)
  • Ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
  • Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)
  • and much more

The weather is also perfect for dragonflies of all kinds and we were able to marvel at many of them ♥

At the end, of course, everyone got my plant and recipe folder for home again.

I would like to thank all participants and I am looking forward to the next herbal hikes on 17, 24 and 25 June 2023. ♥

Today I also remembered to take a few photos ♥

Let’s trip into the wildernis …

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Today I was booked again for a herb walk by the VHS in Kropp.

At the meeting point there were also already familiar faces, which I find really nice.

All participants were very kind and this time there were also two small children and even a baby. ♥

As always, we were very lucky with the weather and it was a varied and very beautiful hike.

The children were looking forward to seeing the many frogs at the lake, which unfortunately could only be heard, but there was still a lot to discover there.

We have found and discussed e.g.

  • Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata)
  • Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)
  • Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica)
  • Cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris)
  • Common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)
  • Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon (Tragopogon pratensis)

  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
  • Wild carrot (Daucus carota)
  • Ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
  • Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)
  • and much more

In the clear water of the lake, besides water mint, you can also find stream fleas, mussels and snails ♥

At the end, of course, everyone got my plant and recipe folder for home again.

I would like to thank all participants and I am already looking forward to the next herb walks at the 10 and 11 June

Enchanting company event

ACO Group Germany

It was a very nice experience in every way ♥

Quite unexpectedly, I was booked by the ACO Group Germany for this great event in early spring.

So I was able to take 20 people from 6 different nations on a herbal walk in a beautiful place ♥

The communication took place in English and worked quite well, even if towards the end, one or the other term briefly slipped my mind.

A dear friend accompanied me and played driver, as I am not mobile at the moment. Thanks again for this.

At this event, in addition to countless delicacies, there were many different experiences for guests, such as

  • Owls and hawks of a falconry
  • Donkey hiking
  • Huskies
  • Fjord horses
  • Archery
  • Survival training and much more

Special thanks to the wonderful and very cordial company.

I am already looking forward to the next herb walk on 03 June 2023 ♥
