Mushroom excursion in Brekendorf and Schleswig

07 and 08 October 2023

We were lucky with the weather on both days, even though it was a bit wetter in Schleswig, but the forest holds most of the drizzle.

Even though this year seems to be just getting started, there was already a lot to be found.

Of course, I also brought back some beautiful photos, so I’m starting to think about pulling out my mobile phone at the same time.

Beautiful mushroom variety at the start of the season

01 October 2023

Now it’s here, my beloved autumn and the mushrooms are starting to sprout again, so I’ll take you with me on my first excursion.

Despite light rain, all participants were in high spirits and so we set off to explore the Brekendorf forest.

The forest offered us a great variety of edible, inedible and poisonous mushrooms at the start of the season🍄.
It was really beautiful to watch and I brought a few photos for you:

Adventure in forest and moor

A very special herb and mushroom hike on 04.08.2023

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

This time I was booked by vacation guests from the Netherlands for an exclusive hike . The small family with the two children was very, very nice and we got along great.

We roamed the forest, the fields and the nearby moor.
In addition to many, many mushrooms, which is very unusual for this time of year, there were also exciting plants to marvel at.

I have never seen so many green button mushrooms in one spot, the whole path was lined with them, beautiful to look at but also absolutely deadly.

Also “Witches” and Woodear were already to be found.

A little “Witch”

In a shady spot in the forest was even still woodruff to find, also very unusual.

It was also great fun to make plant tattoos from the juice of the celandine, and the plantane was allowed to show the children what it can do in a careless encounter with the stinging nettle.

The parents spoke perfect German and the kids were totally cute and eager to explore.

It was really very exciting, at a badger hole we found probably the skull of a fox, I didn’t even know that there are badgers in our country.

In the forest we found a ship built from branches.

The family still prepared a meal from the finds, unfortunately I could not accept the invitation because I still had an appointment at the office.

A nice catch-up date during the week

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Since the herb hike at the weekend had to be cancelled due to heavy rain, we made up for it today (Tuesday, 25.07.2023) in the best weather.

Also this time we got along very well and will stay in contact ♥

A cute dog was also on board and he found the short rest at the lake just as beneficial as we did, even if we didn’t feel like throwing his “logs”.

Great herb hike

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Mea culpa for this late report, I just didn’t make it earlier.

Great people were on board again this time, we will definitely stay in touch, thanks for that ♥

It was exciting, fun and not too hot.

In the meantime, most of the plants are in flower and there are some surprises to discover.

We have found and discussed e.g.

Common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)

Herb hike by the lake

What is growing there? The power of wild herbs ♥

Oh, that was beautiful again today ♥

Yesterday evening I was spontaneously booked by very dear people and this morning at 10 o’clock we started.

Now it is really nice and warm in the early morning, even though it was very windy today.

It was a really nice herb hike in a small circle with really great, lovely people. ♥

Slowly, summer herbs such as St. John’s wort and the rare “Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon” are coming into flower, but yarrow and tansy still need a little time – and above all water! It is much too dry here.
